Romans 8:16-18 - The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
Ephesians 3:6 - This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.
2 Timothy 2:11-13 - The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful—for he cannot deny himself.
2 Corinthians 4:17-18 - For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
Application:
· That Gentiles would turn to the God of Israel and be saved was prophesied in the Old Testament; that they would come into unity with believing Jews on an equal footing was unexpected.
· Faithfully bearing up under suffering and trial will result in reward when Christ returns.
· Seen in the perspective of eternity, my difficulties, whatever they may be, diminish in importance. By comparison, the eternal glory is far greater than all the suffering I may face in this life.
