Romans 8:14,22-24 - For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God…For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees?
2 Corinthians 4:17-18 - For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Application:
· People become children of God through faith in God’s unique Son, and being led by God’s Spirit is the hallmark of this relationship.
· The experiences and circumstances of this present life, often painful and perplexing, are what is visible to me; but these are merely phenomena in the passing parade of this fallen age and are therefore temporary and fleeting. To fix my eyes on these visible things would cause me to lose heart.
· Being saved includes salvation from God’s wrath, which I have incurred by my sinfulness. No human effort can contribute to my salvation; it is the gift of God.
