Hebrews 3:15-17 - As has just been said: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.” Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt? And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies perished in the wilderness?
Numbers 14:28-29,34 - So tell them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the LORD, I will do to you the very thing I heard you say: In this wilderness your bodies will fall—every one of you twenty years old or more who was counted in the census and who has grumbled against me…For forty years—one year for each of the forty days you explored the land—you will suffer for your sins and know what it is like to have me against you.’
1 Corinthians 10:5 - Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.
Application:
· Do I bring upon myself my own punishment?
· Do I refuse to carry out the Lord’s commission?
· In spite of the remarkable privileges given to me, do I still fail to obey God? Am I incurring His displeasure?
