Storerooms

Nehemiah 10:36-37,39 - “As it is also written in the Law, we will bring the firstborn of our sons and of our cattle, of our herds and of our flocks to the house of our God, to the priests ministering there. “Moreover, we will bring to the storerooms of the house of our God, to the priests, the first of our ground meal, of our grain offerings, of the fruit of all our trees and of our new wine and olive oil. And we will bring a tithe of our crops to the Levites, for it is the Levites who collect the tithes in all the towns where we work…The people of Israel, including the Levites, are to bring their contributions of grain, new wine and olive oil to the storerooms, where the articles for the sanctuary and for the ministering priests, the gatekeepers and the musicians are also kept. “We will not neglect the house of our God.”

Nehemiah 13:13,31 - I put Shelemiah the priest, Zadok the scribe, and a Levite named Pedaiah in charge of the storerooms and made Hanan son of Zakkur, the son of Mattaniah, their assistant, because they were considered trustworthy. They were made responsible for distributing the supplies to their fellow Levites…I also made provision for contributions of wood at designated times, and for the firstfruits. Remember me with favor, my God.

Numbers 18:12 - “I give you all the finest olive oil and all the finest new wine and grain they give the LORD as the firstfruits of their harvest.

Genesis 28:20-22 - Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear so that I return safely to my father’s household, then the LORD will be my God and this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth.”

Application:

· Is my motive to please and serve the divine Sovereign?
- Do I pay those who minister the word of God suitably for their work?
· Do I neglect the house of my God?
· Do I acknowledge the Lord as my God and King?
· Am I considered and trustworthy?
