Hebrews 12:3,5-6 - Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted…And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.”
Application:
· Do I see suffering and persecution as corrective and instructive training for my spiritual development as His child?
· Christ is an encouragement to me when I am weary and tempted to become discouraged, because He suffered infinitely more than I ever have or will
· God chastens me in order to correct my faults.

Therefore We Do Not Lose Heart
2 Corinthians 4:1,13-16 - Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart…It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
Romans 7:22-23 - For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me.
Isaiah 40:30-31 - Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Application:
· Has God through His mercy called and commissioned me? Has God supplied the strength necessary for me to persevere in the face of hardships and persecutions?
· Do I delight in God’s law?
· Do I clothe myself with Christ?
