When He Comes In His Father's Glory

Mark 8:31,35-38 - And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again…For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.” John 12:25 - Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 2 Thessalonians 1:5-10 - This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering—since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, when he comes on that day to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed. Application: · Physical life may be saved by denying Jesus, but eternal life will be lost. · Do I love my life here and now? Do I concentrate on my own success? · Am I more concerned about fitting into and pleasing my own adulterous and sinful generation than about following and pleasing Christ? · The Son of Man is pictured as a heavenly figure who in the end times is entrusted by God with authority, glory and sovereign power. · Those who do not know God refers to those who refuse to recognize Him. The gospel invites acceptance, and rejection is disobedience. · Is the Lord’s glory seen in what I am? All Scripture verses taken from ESV
